"Keep it up Brinette! Keep being a light at the end of their tunnels 🙏🏾"
I donated in support of this campaign.
When you think of all the challenges facing children and families in Africa, we can understand it takes a lot to stay dedicated, studious, and committed to learning in Africa. Yet, some students exceed all odds to become honor roll students. YesLiberia, an amazing organization that operates entirely on donations from people like us, understands this even more. The organization believes honor roll students in Africa shouldn't be kicked out of school because they cannot afford their tuition.
Each year, YesLiberia vets hundreds of students through a rigorous application and interview process. One hundred honor roll students are selected annually. YesLiberia pays these students' tuition to ensure them that someone cares, even from afar. Quite recently, the organization introduced a solar lantern pilot project to help other dedicated students become honor roll students as well. The solar powered lantern is safe and can can stay on for 8 hours 7 days a week before recurring recharge in the sunlight. Compared to the unsafe kerosene they have to purchase daily for smokey lamps, this solar lantern is not only cost cost-saving, it also allows people to charge any prepaid cell phones in remote villages and is almost impossible to break. YesLiberia believes this clean solar powered lantern will allow school children adequate light to study and do their homework after long hours walk home from school.
I too believe this is a great project to support. My name is Briyanna Tiafoe, one of the leaders of the African Diaspora Club at Towson University. I am of Liberian and Sierra Leonean descent. Education in Liberia is not as promising as it is in America and I want to do whatever is in my power to help with that. I want the youth to remember that knowledge is power! One reminder I always live by, is that no matter what we may be going through, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Help me to be the light at the end of these children's tunnel. I've vowed to raise funds for 15 solar lanterns at a cost of $65 each. With your support, 10 families will have access to lights at night for studying, dinner, and family story-times. Your donation will help me reach my goal of $1000. Every penny counts and your donation is greatly appreciated. Please help me Light up Liberia for them! Supporting a good cause by donating to my fundraiser will send solar powered lanterns to Liberia. May your willingness to help the poor be a testament for others to do the same. God bless you.
YesLiberia's board will cover the operational cost for this program. This means 100% of your donations goes directly to the children served. I really appreciate this about YesLiberia, Inc.
